The Dreaming

Todd is dreaming, as am I. I have two types of Cindy dreams. The first are dreams where
everything is “normal”. That is a dream that is set in an everyday
setting, say, in the kitchen washing dishes, or sitting on the couch watching TV, or at a
school event of some sort. And at some point I realize that Cindy is
there and nothing seems odd about the situation, until somewhere way up
there the conscious mind starts to realize what’s going on deep down
there in subconscious land and sends little hints to remind everyone
that Cindy has been gone for quite a while now and this can’t really be
happening. At that point I get all excited and start telling her about
all the things that have been happening without her for the past 4+
years. And at that point I always wake up.

The second type of dream is one in which I am trying to understand why
Cindy has left me. In these dreams again it appears that she is
alive. But in this case she is alive but has left us and I haven’t
seen, heard, or talked to her for these many years. I am usually
talking to one of her friends and trying to find out why she has left
and why she won’t talk to me. On a few occasions I will actually see
Cindy and try to talk to her, ask her why she has left, and why she
won’t let me see her. She rarely ever responds in these dreams. The
few occasions when she does she is very cryptic or evasive and my
frustration level increases to a point that it sometimes wakes me up.
This type of dream leaves me in a very uncomfortable state upon
waking. All the emotions that I am experiencing are still there when I
wake up and it take a good portion of the day for all the emotional
brain chemical accumulation to equalize and things get back to
“normal”.

Asparagus Tart

Tonight I made a dinner that was really good.  I tend to think that I could have done better on many of the things I make but tonight I think it would have been hard to improve on this particular dish.  I had some asparagus and a package of puff pastry.  I searched for those ingredients on Google and didn’t really find anything that looked exactly like what I thought we would like so I just made this up.

The recipe was a couple of tablespoons of cream cheese mixed with a table spoon of sour cream and about a half a cup of freshly grated parmesan cheese.  Spread that on one sheet of puff pastry and then top with parcooked asparagus spears and some sauteed onions and garlic.  Top with the second sheet of pastry cut into srtrips.  Egg wash the pastry and bake at 400-425 for 17-20 minutes.  Finish with a little more grated parmesan over the top during the last 5 minutes of cooking time.

On the Hunt

I spent the late morning taking picture with the Pentax ist DL. So far I really like using a SLR again. I really haven’t used one since the 80’s.

Soup

Zoop! Halley is talking soup today. Last night I made this Spicy Lentil Soup from the latest issue of Vegetarian Times. It was really yummy. I served it on a bed of Basmati Rice topped with a dollup of sour cream and some fresh chopped Culantro. Turned out pretty darn good.

Working to live, Living to work.

For the past five years I have worked with a wonderful group of people. At a time when I needed, and received, tremendous support from all my family and friends, I received the same from the people I worked with and for. It is hard for me to imagine where I would be right now if it wasn’t for the understanding and support I received from everyone at Morrow Technologies.

And now it is time for something new. Last week a few of us were laid off and are now looking for new opportunities. If anyone is looking for a couple of experienced Software Engineers and Technical Writer we are looking for something new.

So now I have a little free time to play golf around the job hunt activities, and to think about the past five years and the future. Looking back I can only try to express my thanks to everyone who has helped us through thoughts and actions, and looking forward I hope that the girls and I can continue to grow and learn, and live in the memory of their mother.

Try to “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.”
