Bells, Bears and Fishermen

Today Lindsey mentioned a concert on the NPR website with Carly Simon and Yael Naim.  She said she had a connection with Carly Simon, and when I asked about it she reminded me that when she was a toddler she would listen to a cassette tape when she was going to sleep at night.  It was Carly Simon reading a couple of her children’s books, Amy the Dancing Bear, The Boy of the Bells, and The Fisherman’s Song. I had forgotten about that until she reminded me. My first thought was I can’t wait for Cindy to hear this, she’ll think it’s so neat.  Lindsey remembers it very clearly.  She remembered that she didn’t particularly like the last story, The Fisherman’s Song and always hoped to fall asleep before the tape made it to that part.

We wondered if we could find a copy anywhere online but couldn’t find anything other than an overpriced used copy of the cassette on eBay.  I was able to find a copy on one of the download sites but the file was corrupted and wouldn’t play.  So Lindsey looked and she still has the cassette!  I found an old boom box that still worked and started the process of recording it to the computer so I could make mp3’s.
