Flute Festival

Sunday was Chelsey’s recital at the local Music Teachers Association
Festival. She had to use her ‘old’ flute as her new one developed
a stuck key. She played well (590kb Wav file) even though the instrument didn’t
sound as nice as her new one.

Ybor Saturday

I drove Lindsey and her friends over to Centro Ybor today to do some
shopping.  I couldn’t get Chelsey to go with me so I spent some
time walking around Ybor taking some photos.

I Got the Blues

It seems that “I’m Livin With the Blues” so I decided to go look for some new music because you know how I like “The Feeling Music Brings“. It may be that I have the “Apolitical Blues” and I just need to put on my “Sailin’ Shoes” and do a little “Attitude Dancing“.

Baywalk Friday Night

I spent the evening down at Baywalk in St. Pete.  I’ve never
really been there before so I had a nice time walking around and spent
some time walking around downtown St. Pete as well.  I sat on a
bench and listened to this guy playing a violin over by the parking
garage.  The acoustics were very interesting.  The sound
seemed to come from everywhere.  It took me a little while to
figure out where he was.  Click the thumbnails to see a larger
photo and listen to a .wav file of him playing.

I love that song!

Maybe this is a way to meet people with similar tastes, well at least similar tastes in music.

Making music over great distances

Whoops! Robert not Adam talks about an interesting cross Atlantic music creation project.

Another interesting project like this is “The Postal Service” with a US
– Pacific Northwest / Southern California long distance collaboration.

“In December 2001, Gibbard started receiving CD-Rs from Tamborello
filled with beatsy electronic music, which he manipulated in his
computer before writing melodies and lyrics and recording vocals. He
also added some guitar, drums and keyboards – much of which was
recorded by Death Cab guitarist Chris Walla at his Hall of Justice
studio – and then sent the demo back to L.A. Gibbard had to run his
changes past Tamborello, but he more or less had the freedom to alter
the songs to his liking.”

Lindsey keeps turning me onto such very interesting music.

What’s up with the Republicans in FL

Last night I had a message on the machine from Laura Bush.
Previously I had one from Dubya himself. They are really,
really, anxious for Floridians to request absentee ballots and to vote
early. I mean REALLY, REALLY! A few months ago the mailings
started recommending that we all request absentee ballots. Just
got one yesterday from Bill Young telling me how important it is to
vote early. What’s up with that? Are they afraid of
something? What’s wrong with voting on election day using the new
touch screen machines?
