Halley posts an item with…

Halley posts an item with the lyrics to the song “I want a mom that will last forever”. It’s a Cyndi Lauper song from another one of those single dad raising kids type movies that the girls used to like watching when they were younger. It will be interesting to see how they react to those movies now.

“I Want A Mom”

I can’t seem to get the permanent link to this item to work, so you’ll have to look for it down the page, and it will disappear soon as the newer items push it off the page.

You can find the lyrics on Cyndi’s site too.

Lindsey is off to the…

Lindsey is off to the last Jr. Cotillion event of the season. She looked really nice in a long black gown, pictures will follow later this weekend. The other Cotillion Parents are down at the beach at the Rockaway enjoying some Parents Night Out fun. I’m not there.

I’m sitting out in front of the Library at my old school, St. Petersburg College, enjoying some wireless goodness on the iBook, and a lovely sunset too. Chelsey is in the auditorium rehearsing for the end of the year band recital tomorrow evening.

Just another cheeky day in paradise.

ZOINKS! [1] If only I…

ZOINKS! If only I had the imagination to do the things Jeneane describes Halley doing. I think Halley is a “double parent” like I am. It sounds like she doesn’t struggle as much as I seem to do. But I’m sure it’s a case of the grass being greener.

Halley comments [1] about how…

Halley comments about how blogging being resembles open source software development, where you have to do some “cranial scuba diving”, and “YOU NEED TO GET INTO ANOTHER PERSONíS HEAD”.

She then goes on to talk about a similar concept in relation to a former marriage and wonders, if there was some way to help partners to think more alike, if the marriage would still be together.

Could it be that part of what allows people to have healthy and happy relationships is exposing themselves to as many varied points of view as possible. Then you have more areas to disagree on, as well as more areas to find common interest and agreement. I think that one of the good things about the relationship with my wife was not necessarily our ability to think alike, but our ability to find so many things that we did agree on, which meant we didn’t have to argue to try and convince each other on those that we didn’t.

I think that part of blogging, at least the reading of blogs, is a way to be exposed to more varied points of view. More possibilities, more people that think I’m wrong, and more chances for me to see other perspectives.

For Chelsey

You have learned so well,
the lessons she taught.
Her pride shows
from within you.

On May 1st lovers gather…

On May 1st lovers gather in a park in Prague at the statue of Karel Hynek Mácha, the Czech Romantic “poet of love”. They lay flowers by the statue and then kiss under the spring blooms of the Cherry trees. What a wonderful way to celebrate the joy and beauty of spring.

May
by Karel Hynek Macha

Byl pozdní veèer – první máj –
veèerní máj – byl lásky èas.
Hrdlièèin zval ku lásce hlas,
kde borový zavánìl háj.
O lásce öeptal tichý mech;
kvìtoucí strom lhal lásky ûel,
svou lásku slavík rùûi pìl,
rùûinu jevil vonný vzdech.
Jezero hladké v køovích stinných
zvuèelo temnì tajný bol,
bøeh objímal je kol a kol;
a slunce jasná svìtù jiných
bloudila blankytnými pásky,
planoucí tam co slzy lásky.

Another week like the other…

Another week like the other week. Today I am so tired I can barely think. I have to get the 5th grade graduation slide show done so we can get it to the duplication people. I’ll be happy when the school year is over so I can at least get another hour of sleep in the mornings.

Chelsey’s class visited Enterprise Village where they get to experience a workday environment. Chelsey worked at the Morton Plant Mease booth and when I walked in and saw her in that lab coat just like her mom used to wear…

I finally took a few photos of the Jacaranda tress that have been blooming. I never seem to have my camera when the light is right, or I’m late for work and can’t stop. Some day.

There are just a few photos this week.

The widows and widowers on…

The widows and widowers on Widownet are like a family of some sort. A family that accepts you in without any question. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you are from, what you are like. We are all part of this ‘secret’ society and need each other to survive in the world at large.

I Miss My Friend

I Miss My Friend
By Darryl Worley

“I miss my friend
The one my heart and soul confided in
The one I felt the safest with
The one who knew just what to say
To make me laugh again
And let the light back in
I miss my friend”
