While I’m up and not sleeping, here’s an update on my attempt to use itunes on my laptop to play music through my stereo from my PC in the Kitchen.  Everything would be working, but…

For some reason iTtunes on the iBook can’t see the shared iTunes Library in the kitchen.  The kitchen can see the iBook just fine.  I found that if I took the iBook into the kitchen and hooked it up to the hub instead of going WiFi I can at least see the kitchen’s shared iTunes Library, I just can’t open it up 🙁

I don’t think it’s a firewall issue as I’ve done all sorts of things to open ports, and even disabled it completely and it has no affect.  Must be time to re-install the operating system 🙂

Some recent events and I took photos.

Looks like some one has picked up on my nefarious spamming identity thief’s tactics and has written an article, in German, about what has been happening to me. Maybe there is hope that under the glare of the public eye this guy will perhaps at least leave me alone and hopefully disappear from my life.

Someone has borrowed my weblog identity and is going around the net and posting comments and creating user accounts with my name and a link to an old copy of my weblog front page.  It has gotten to the point where people are now angry with me for the things this guy has been doing.

I noticed that recently he has gone to the trouble of grabbing a more recent copy of my page so it appears that he has no thought of stopping this.

If you are here from a bogus comment, or link in a new user account, I apologize, I am not a spammer and I so wish this guy would stop.

It looks like time for me to quit blogging 🙁

Nobody helped me with my name the cartoon with the Schmoo like beings so I finally had to go figure it out for myself, it was The Herculoids!  I must have been watching because of Princess Tara 🙂

What a good idea! 

Sometime I wish I could just sing away all my troubles.  I’m not that good of a singer just yet.

An interesting story about the Schmoon in the old L’il Abner comics on Ming the Mechanic’s site.  The Schmoo shaped organism resurfaced on the Saturday morning cartoons years later.  Someone will have to remind me what cartoon it was as my feeble memory can’t come up with it at the moment.

The most interesting thing to me was Ming’s comments about finding meaning in life in a world where all our material needs are met.  The implication that pursuing a bigger car provides some level of meaning, and the bigger issues of an irrelevant economic system.

“We’ll have to develop some new ways of finding meaning in life, of course. We can no longer measure ourselves by how good we are at making a living. I think we can manage that. There are many other good things to do in life than just barely surviving or pursuing a bigger car. But some structures will have to be transformed greatly along the way. Not much need for an economic system if we can easily get everything we want.”

For me it is so obvious what brings meaning to my life, my kids!  This doesn’t imply that those without children don’t have meaning in their lives, but those of us who do have children have a constant and consuming need to do our best as we make the daily choices that will hopefully be the best for our children as they grow and become adults.  As much as I want to provide all the toys and stuff that will give them hours of enjoyment, the more important gifts are those of a safe home, a good school, enjoyment of music, literature and the Arts, and all the love and caring I can provide.  My dream would be the ability to spend as much time as possible giving them those gifts.  Time.

precious and leave you with only precious memories.

I found this via The Shifted Librarian here’s the permalink to her archive item.  The Wireless Broadband Pocket Internet Streaming Player is slowly starting to take shape.

It will be here before you know it.  I still think that access to a “huge” library of media (I actually want everything that’s ever been recorded 🙂 via a broadband connection anywhere is much easier than trying to maintain a data center ‘s worth of music on my PC at home, and maybe again on my laptop, and finally on my portable music player.  Who wants to try and maintain all that?  Let Jules Verne take care of managing all that data, doing the necessary backups and organizing, I’ll just sit back and let the music stream over my ears.
