“Why do people cry?” “Maybe,…

“Why do people cry?” “Maybe, maybe emotion becomes so intense your body just can’t contain it. Your mind, your feelings become too powerful. Your body weeps.”

“Some things are true, whether you believe them or not.”

Seth Plate – City of Angels

“there’s always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it’s hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty and weightless
and maybe I’ll find some peace tonight”

Sarah McLachlan

“And I’d give up forever to touch you
Cuz I know that you feel me somehow
You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be
And I don’t want to go home right now”

What’s up with people driving…

What’s up with people driving to work in the morning and fighting for
track position on the way to the next stoplight?  Geez!
Track position is only important when you are on a race track!
Driving to work is all about getting there in one piece.

Standard Answers

We used to play Trivial Pursuit, once upon a time.  They came out with an additional card deck for Baby Boomers.  I remember all the entertainment questions being from a couple years before my time.  I guess we were on the younger end of the boomers era 🙂  Any way I would get the wacky questions about TV shows that I knew of but never watched.  I never new the answers for what the actors names were.  To save time when I didn’t know the answer I would use a standard answer of Audrey Meadows.  So for any question at any time that required the name of an actor or actress my response was always Audrey Meadows

When Chelsey was little she would ask these questions about when something was going to happen.  They were usually questions that didn’t have a definite answer of a specific date or time.  I gave up trying to explain that I didn’t know exactly when that something was going to happen.  She would of course argue the point and want a definitive answer.  My response was “Tuesday!”  Now the answer to almost any question about when something is going to happen is “Tuesday!”  I’m hoping now that my someday, my good news day, will be “Tuesday!”

“Maybe I shall meet her Sunday
Maybe Monday
Maybe not
Still I’m sure to meet her one day
Maybe Tuesday
Will be my good news day”
From “The Man I Love”
Billy Holliday

My current standard answer is “we are doing fine”.

All I wanted was for him to be home.
lil flower has an interesting comment about the difference between working hard to provide income to support a family vs. working hard to be there with the family.

“I love you Mom, wherever…

“I love you Mom, wherever you are. Please put this on your fridge.”

Halley writes about her mom this morning. It makes me wonder
about how my daughters think about things like this, and how they will
look back on their childhood later in life. It also makes me cry
uncontrollably, which isn’t the best thing when I read my morning
mail/news feeds here at the office.

Halley is discovering new vistas…

Halley is discovering new vistas of smallsightedness.  Today it is salt and rain I can’t wait for snow flakes.

When I was young and we would lie on our backs in the snow and watch
the snowflakes as they quietly fell from the dark black sky overhead to
land gently and wetly on our faces.

“Do you realize

“Do you realize
That everyone you know someday will die?
And instead of saying all of your good-byes
Let them know you realize that life goes fast
It’s hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn’t go down
It’s just an illusion caused by the world spinning round”

The Flaming Lips
Do You Realize

This reminded me of something I liked that I read in a comment over on the Red Head’s site

“But you know what? In a sense we’re all just going in circles anyway, and we meet up again at the same place.”

Sort of like the world spinning around.  I realize that this wasn’t written in the same context as the one I’m reading it in, but it none the less has a deep meaning in both contexts.
